brob108 is the genius behind today's FTU POTD:

This picture was nominated by Peder Winge, from Denmark, Thanks Peder!

Here is Peder's comment on the picture:

"It's a beautiful mono picture with sensitive lighting, perfect composition and I like the ships in the horizon and the lonely person in the water."

What Peder may not know, and I'm pretty sure I'm right on this, is that the lonely person is actually a statue, one of a hundred naked cast iron figures by Angel of the North creator Antony Gormley, located on Crosby beach, near Liverpool.

I'm quite surprised this image hasn't generated much response - I think it's excellent. I really like moody pictures like this. It's an interesting background to the statue as well. I understand the 100 statues have now been removed - on 'health and safety' grounds.

This is a beautifully moody picture. Great tonal qualities and composition work very well.

I would agree with you Ian, a really good moody picture created by excellent use of Mono and slow shutter.

I think you will find that the installation is now permanent at Crosby beach.
I have photographed the beach both at early morning and sunset and will confirm that it can be well worth a visit photographically, if you can get your head round the relationship of the figures with the beach, sea and sky
