  • FTU POTD Tuesday 2nd December 2008

martinfarrow is our unsuspecting star photographer of today, with his FTU Picture of the Day called 'The Asylum':

The picture was nominated by Horacio, all the way from Argentina!

Although it doesn't look it - perhaps hit has been cropped - this colourful shot was taken with an Olympus E-300 plus 7-14mm Digital Zuiko super wide angle - at 7mm.

Do you have a favourite picture from the FTU gallery, let us know so that we can feature it here on Picture of the Day soon. Contact me via forum mail or via standard email: forum-admin@fourthirds-user.com.

Thank you very much, I'm deeply honoured this picture was nominated.

It was cropped a very small amount to remove some distracting elements on the right.

      Cheers Martin

The Assylum looks like a fun place to be at the beach.
It's colors are vibrant and it's a great shot.

An excellent shot that is well balanced, vibrantly colourful, and gives the feeling of a relaxing and fun location.
The sky is a very unusual shade of blue (as skies go); Has it been processed or is it 'a la naturale' ?

Alas, the perrenial problem of displaying high quality images on a web browser! The colour has shifted. If you view the image in a colour managed environment the sky blue is more natural.

As chance would have it, Martin has managed to be nominated for POTD on the e-group site, with another 7-14 shot, see:

Although there is a colour shift when viewed in an un-colour managed browser, the greenish tinge to the sky actually works quite well in a sort of surrealistic way!

An Excellent shot well deserving of the nomination, it's just the picture to keep us going through the not very nice weather across the UK at present.
                        Well done Martin.
