  • Low on water

Our local pond has run low on water due to the recent dryconditions and the heron has found little food in there and today it seemed he had marked the remaining water in segments left, right etc

    Re: Low on water

Visiting the 'lake' a couple of days later the level of water was much reduced. It helped me in a way as the kingfisher was drawn closer to the photographer. Also he didn't have to drop so far for his catch.

      Re: Low on water

Lovely photos Barrie. We're hanging out for some rain too. Last month we got 2.2mm, but some (hopefully) is expected tomorrow.

Thanks Barrie. We got a 0.4mm sprinkling today with more forecast with possible storms tomorrow. More is forecast later in the week too. I'm hoping for some anyhow.

Beautiful Kingfisher picture. You can have some of our rain. In September we got 114 mm and so far in October we have got 26 mm.

              Thanks Bo.

After an early walk this morning I re-visited the lake and found it almost empty. Rain is needed in this area - we seemed to have had a reasonable amount earlier this year so I am somewhat puzzled.

That looks a bit sad Barrie. Maybe it's like (some of) our crop (cotton?) growers in Queensland & north NSW, been taking more water out than they should & leaving the Murray-Darling River system short for those down south. Anybody taking out water legally or illegally?

                  Thanks Ross -

Anne had a conversation with a representative of the Canal and River Trust today and it is the lack of rainfall this year and last in the area. It seems we are not the only ones.

I like that picture very much Barr1e, even if it's sad that you have had so little rain.

We are expecting a storm tomorrow and if it arrives it might add an inch or so the lake.

Some more activity at the lake, albeit empty.
