  • E5 Noise Filter and Noise Reduction settings / On or Off or a Mix?

    Hello,

    I'm using the excellent E5 and am experimenting to minimise noise in images as i know the E5 is capable of excellent detail.
    I want to exploit this by knowing when and when not to use noise filter and noise reduction settings.
    1. Does turning noise filter off for daytime images get cleaner images? Or;
    2. Should the noise filter always be on and say, noise reduction low, for maximum detail?.
    3. Keeping in mind using ISO less that 640 (ISO Auto may help here) does anyone have any recommendations to obtain as much detail from the E5 sensor as possible at - a. daytime and b.dusk?
    4. Is there a recommended picture mode setting for maximum detail? Portrait, Natural etc.?

    Thanks
    Warren

    Try switching the noise filter off anyway. Though do note it only affects JPEG images. I recommend using RAW (ORF) if you can do you can fine tune the balance between smoothing and sharpness with absolute precision.
