  • Chattering lenses!

On the FTU Knowledge Base I have started an article about lenses that 'chatter' on some live view camera bodies. This chatter is caused by the lens aperture being repeatedly adjusted as the light in a scene changes. It helps maintain a normalised Live View brightness, even in very bright or dark conditions.

    The article is here:

Some lenses are practically silent (I wonder if these lenses are actually doing anything at all) while with others you can hear the lens aperture but it's not obtrusive, while the worst ones make a rather disturbing mechanical noise.

The article is a work in progress I would be grateful for your experiences with your camera lenses and camera bodies (not all camera bodies will cause this issue in the first place).

    Thanks,

    Ian
