  • Lumix GF6 and wireless flash

    Hello all,

As this is my first post on this forum I will first say hello.
I live in the Netherlands and for several years I own an Olympus E-420.
Looking at the developments in (M)4/3 I have decided that I will change to M4/3 in the near future.
The GF6 seems to fulfill most of my needs, it does however not have a hotshoe and I do need an external flash every now and then.
Would it be possible to control a remote flash if it is mounted on a bracket beside the camera? In which case the remote sensor will not "see" the onboard flash of course.

Hi Jan and welcome to FTU!

You will be able to use a flash in the way you describe either in manual mode or using the flash auto exposure mode, but not with TTL (through the lens) metering. I think the only way of triggering the flash would be as a slave using the built in camera flash. Which model external flash would you consider using?

      Hello Ian,

The GF6 should support wireless TTL, see page 135 of the user manual.
I want to use it with an Olympus FL-300R.
If this will work as I suggested then I do not have to look for a camera with hot shoe.

Ah! I am still in holiday mode; you could be right. My brain assumed that wireless flash was not supported. If it is then you should have no problems.
