  • Increase Bulb Shutter Speed in G3

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to increase the Bulb Shutter Speed in G3? Currently the camera only allows upto 2mins in Bulb (under S/Speed) while shooting M Mode. Is there a way to go around this constraint and extend it to at least 30mins (especially good for star trail photography).

    Thanks and warm regards
    Robin

I have had an answer from my contact at Panasonic in Japan. Apparently the G3's sensor produces too much noise for extreme long exposures and that is why the Bulb duration was limited. So it doesn't look like there is a work around, sorry. Apparently the noise in this mode if use is significantly worse than, say, the GH2's sensor.

Re: Increase Bulb Shutter Speed in G3

I know this response is to an old post however I did notice it when I was looking for help finding the bulb setting on the G3. As pointed out you must be in single shot, not burst and manual mode. I use a Pixel RW-221/L1 remote shutter release on it's bulb mode. The shutter will remain open as long as you keep it depressed. This easily overcomes the 60 sec limit of the camera.
