  • Wedding shooting in 24p or 50i?

    Hi all!
I am preparing for wedding shooting. Despite I read plenty of discussions regarding fps settings I am still little bit confused. My question is: Can I shoot in 24p or I should use 50i considering I am running on PAL GH2? I will use mic so I want to keep sound but I am not sure If It possible on 24p!? I would appreciate any responses.

    Thank you in advance!

    Bob

    Hi Bob,
I assume the end product will be a PAL DVD for playback on TV. So I would shoot and edit in 50i. Cheers, Rob

You can always take frames away in post and run it down to 24fps if the choppier film feel is what you want. However, you can't add frames so you should shoot in 50i from the start.

Good advice Ned, although down converting to 25p in PAL land is the way to go (if you want the progressive look) when making PAL DVDs.

24, 23.976 & 29.97 frame rates for NTSC systems would be a nightmare.

Oh yeah, I'm in North America so I am used to NTSC standards. Our 29.97 drop frame timecode is just fun, huh?

3-2 pull down and all that stuff - Fun!
Thankfully it's not that often that I have to convert from PAL>NTSC or visa versa!
It really annoys me though that a lot of compact cameras only shoot 30 (29.97), fps these days.

So stay in simple PAL frame rates Bob and enjoy your GH2 as I do.
            Cheers, Rob
