  • EPL-1, anyone bought one yet in the UK ?

    Hi,
I've gone and 'reserved' a new EPL-1 twin lens kit for myself as after a reasonably lengthy test drive at my local-ish oly centre I found it was what I had been looking for in the EP-1 /EP-2 models BUT at an affordable price for my pocket !

Hopefully in the next week or so I'll take delivery of it and start to learn how to use it.

Fingers crossed I've made the right decision for me........
and it will be the start of a new micro 4/3rds camera system to develop.

They are selling E-PL1s here at Focus on Imaging (Jacobs at least) for 499 including a free retro style gadget bag. They have stock, not just pre-orders.

I'd like to know if Olympus will be doing a "WIDE" kit when the new 9-18mm super wide zoom becomes available

Keep smiling, it gets folk wondering what you've been up to

        EPL-1 bundlings

The bundlings with each camera are defined at each sales start.
The E-PL1 is an entry model, hence it's "Box contents" are body only, single kit, double zoom kit with the colour permutations.

        Go to either
        http://www.olympus-europa.com/consumer
        http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer
and for each model check the "Box content".

Are there no other EPL-1 owners out there? I just got my epl-1, blue one. I'm very excited to own this and been reading everything. I see so many good pictures taken with this camera but so far my pictures have been OK, the good ones I took is just by luck. I'm very interested in learning to take good pictures with this camera.

            Hi there nxp3,
I got mine last week and so far its turned out to be everything i expected & wanted in a compact package !

            I love it !

Now getting to grips with how it works and all the menu/ picture taking options available to me.

I got the twin lens kit with the 4/3rds adapter so later on when funds allow, i will get some extra lenses for it and also a wired remote.

I went for the Stealth Black option, more discreet I think.

Finally it did'nt make me bankrupt, unlike the EP-2 !

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I had read and become a little confused, that the EPL-1 didn't have any means of remote trigger? The lack of any form of remote release seems unlikely, but I would be interested to know if anybody who owns one could confirm or deny this.

                Hey congratulation,

I'm in the US, and they only have 1 kit, the 14-42. And I didn't want the silver one so the next available one was the blue one, I would have to wait longer if I wanted the black one....It's not so bad looking for the blue one. I wish they had the twin lens kit, but they don't here. I'd prefer a white one, but it will have to do. I ordered an aki asahi kit which will make it look blue and black....

                http://aki-asahi.com/store/html/E-PL...rette/EPL1.php

I've been wanting to get a second lens. The panasonic 20mm, f1.7 and I've bid on ebay but I'm not good at it and getting frustrated. I might have to just cough up the 400 dollar price for it.

                  Hi AdrianF,
I was told by the Olympus Tech Centre that their RM-UC1 wired remote will work on the EPL-1 as I was confused about this feature like you.

I emailed the Olympus Customer Support centre who could'nt answer my question but asked me to phone their Tech Centre, which I did and got the answer.

I also contacted Hahnel about thier wired remote and was told it would not work on the EPL-1.

                  Hope this helps you !

                    Hello there nxp3,

good choice of lens, I've heard that many Pen owners have bought the camera as body only and then purchased the Panasonic 20mm F1.7 as it is better than the Oly 17mm lens !

Could you not order a UK spec EPL-1 twin lens kit via a UK based supplier...............
as I've previously bought from several American retailers because I could'nt get what I wanted in the UK as these items were not available here in the UK.

                    Might be worth considering.

Thanks for the confirmation. I couldn't believe that they would leave this off the camera. Just shows the amount of disinformation floating around on the internet!

In case it helps, I received what's below on March 18, following a related question to my dealer (see 2nd point; and note the location likely won't apply to you):

Olympus E-PL1 with 14-42 In stock in Calgary
Olympus 9-18mm Will not be in stock by April (most likely end of April or later)
Olympus 17mm In Stock in Calgary
                        Olympus PT-EP01 NO ETA
                        Olympus PMLA-EP01 NO ETA
Olympus PTMC-01 In Stock in Olympus (1 week wait)
Olympus UFL-1 In stock in Olympus ( 1 Week Wait)

I asked if he meant UFL-2 at the bottom, but didn't get a response. Has anyone heard anything on availability of the PT-EP01 housing? TIA :-). B.
