  • The Pen E-P5 has landed - in my office at least!

At last, a review E-P5 and VF-4 finder have arrived. I only have them for a few days so if you have any questions about either, please don't hesitate! Post your questions here

Can you please do a quick test to see if the built in WiFi is quicker than a FlashAir card to transfer a full RAW file.

Also can the smartphone/tablet app be set to continiously look for new images taken by the camera and download them automatically.

    Thanks
    Graham

Unfortunately I don't have a FlashAir card. Will test the second function...

Is the AF improved over the E-M5? I've read that it is supposed to be better with 4/3 lenses, but no one seems to have any details, or have performed any testing. I'm particularly curious about SWD lenses.

And how does the new EVF compare to the one built into the E-M5?

        Thanks, Ian!

Thanks Ian. Can you please do a test on the download speed of RAW files.

I have no idea why, but the FlashAir card downloads a RAW file from the E-PL5 to an iPhone 4, in about 30 seconds. However, if you download several RAW files it only takes about 12 seconds each.

The JPGs are so fast it's not worth timing them.

Certainly looking forward to your opinions on this new PEN.

First - the VF-4; it is a bigger and more spacious view and as there are more pixels (1024x786 instead of 800x600) the extra magnification is not at the expense of extra pixel visibility. The refresh rate is very good and I don't notice any flicker in normal use. When moving the view details simply go a little soft until you stop.

Will try it on an older Pen (and someone has asked for me to try it on an E-M5!) and report back.

Could you try out the Olympus Image share software and tell us how responsive it is..I know you have(had) the Archos tablet..that should take care of the android version..and if you have the ipod touch..that would be useful information too..I'm trying to fancy the iPod-touch as a live-view remote control/trigger..

              regards.

                Hi Raj,

Unfortunately OI.Share Is only available from the iTunes App Store for iPad & iPhone. The iPod is not supported.

Re: The Pen E-P5 has landed - in my office at least!

According to the iTunes App Store it's compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later, and optimised for iPhone 5.

                    I stand corrected...

                    This Only mentions "SmartPhones"

The Google search page shows it's compatable with the iPod touch but I didn't see this on the iTunes Apps programme page.

As it's a FREE App, simply download it and see if it works.

I just looked in the App Store via iTunes for the info - I can't try it with my iPod Touch 4G as I don't have a compatible card or camera but as the Touch is basically an iPhone without the phone bits but with wi-fi built in, it should work OK .
