considering purchasing Oly 50mm 3.5 OM system manual focus macro - has anyone used this lens?? how good is the macro
I know it needs an adapter & want to keep budget under $200.00US for both

is there any other lens that is better?? want MANUAL focus

Note Oly 60mm is too $$$ for me

The OM 50mm f/3.5 is a good lens but it's a very old design. Have you thought about the Four Thirds 35mm f/3.5 Macro? It's a budget lens but again performs very well and can both auto focus and focus manually. Finding a new one might be difficult these days but used ones should be easier to locate. You will need an adapter if using with a Micro Four Thirds body.

      Re: Greetings - need advice

Many years ago I owned an OM 50mm f3.5 and it is a good lens. However, as Ian said, it is now an old design and there are better alternatives. My current favourite is the Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro which is very sharp, has a choice of auto or manual focus, has 1:1 magnification as opposed to 1:2 and has a better working distance than the 50mm. It's available in Four thirds mount, but you would need an adapter for MFT.

The only drawback is that it might be a bit expensive, unless you can find a reasonably priced secondhand example.

A cheaper alternative, which I also have, is a used Elica 90mm f2.5, if you can find one. It also has 1:1 magnification, but is manual focus only.

The magnify is not big enough, you can try sigma 50mm f2.8 EX Macro 1:1 or Tamron SP adaptall 90/2.5+extention or 90/2.8 the 1:1
