  • No RC with FL-600R

I just got an Olympus FL-600R to go with my OM-D and I can't get the Remote Control function to work at all even though I have followed all instructions on how to make RC work to the letter. I recently updated the OM-D firmware to v. 1.2 which apparently has some problems, so I am not sure if this is what is wrong. Does anybody know if there is a trick to getting RC to work or is it likely to be a firmware or hardware issue?

    Hi Steve.
Is the Flash FL-LM2 firing on the camera when testing the RC mode? Don't forget to have the same group & channel (Group A, B or C & channel 1,2,3 or 4) selected on both the body & FL600R (with RC selected on both).

I fiddle with violins (when I'm not fiddling with a camera).

      Re: No RC with FL-600R

      Thanks for your reply Ross.

      The problem is fixed.

I called Olympus and while talking to them started playing with camera and flash. The crazy gear started to work and has done ever since. I think the problem was the standard OM-D flash was not pushed all the way in when I mounted it, or the contacts were dirty and not making proper contact with the camera. The flash would fire but I think the communications with the camera were only working one way.

Now it works brilliantly and I am very impressed with what the combination can do.

        Re: No RC with FL-600R

Glad you have it going well then. I have liked the RC function since using it on my E520 (& then E30) & with a few flash units, some creative lighting can be achieved. If you can pick up any FL36R units cheap enough, they can add to your FL600R in this application.

Edit: I realised I had mixed up the groups & channels & have corrected my first post.
