  • In camera noise reduction settings

    Hi all,

Do the in-camera noise reduction settings affect ORF files so that the reduction is seen in the previews in Lightroom/ACR? Or are they only applied to ORF files that are developed using Olympus Viewer and JPEGs?

    Thanks,

    Ivor

Re: In camera noise reduction settings

Noise redction should not be read from EXIF by Adobe products. You can check it if you import the file with NR and then look at Lightroom (ACR, etc.) noise reduction parameters, these should be zeroed for luminance noise and 25/50 by default for chromatic noise.

Re: In camera noise reduction settings

Thanks for your help, that is what I suspected, but I wasn't sure if there was any other physical change within the camera with the noise reduction setting. I was reading that NR set to Normal on the E-5 could lead to a softening of the image but this must just apply to JPEGs and previewing RAW files using Oly software. So, as I only shoot raw and only use Lightroom then this setting is irrelevant.

      Cheers,
