Never had issues with the exposures. Maybe the meter properties have been changed to center or sumethin'. As for the EP1, get a MMF2 adapter.
    Bodies: E510, E30, E-PL1, Lenses: 12-60mm, 14-54mm, 50-200mm, 35mm, EC-14, 14-42mmL, 40-150mm, MMF-2.

      Hi,

Thanks for trying to help. It is definitely on ESP. I spent quite some time with the metering system, comparing the different metering patterns. I rarely notice a difference between centre weight and ESP. As far as I understand the ESP in the E-300 is a lot simpler than in the E-500 and newer bodies. Olympus doesn't say what it actually is. But it seems heavily weighted towards the circle in the finder, which to my liking this is already to much spot.

The lens I have is the old 40-150/3.5-4.5. Which while being quit bright, is large, has a ridiculous close focus limit of 1.5m and will not AF well on the Pen range. I figure I will be better served by a proper mFT lens. I am still waiting for more reviews on the new mFT 40-150, which is starting to hit the stores right now.
      enjoy

        Re: E-300 owners unite!...

I still have my E-300 (with HLD2 grip) and love using it. In fact I lost my digital virginity over it as it was my first digital camera! I have since graduated to an E-1, E-500, E-510 and now an E-620 but I am just as likely to grab the E-300 as any other. Like so many things Olympus it was a design ahead of its time with its boxy shape etc. but that is one of the attractions of Oly to me; I'm just not interested in joining the CaNikon stampede!

What davcall said. E300 was/is one of the most beautiful dslrs ever built.
If they'd thought to chrome the upper deck they have the total Retro furistic look a decade before Fuji.
on second thoughts, no, the black look rules.
With a bigger viewfinder and a quieter shutter, it would be just about perfect!

It is fascinating hear enthusiasm for an older camera. With used prices so low one can experiment on a small investment, and so far my only complaint (of myself) is remembering how each one differs from another.

I've only had mine for a couple of weeks and have already captured some great shots, better than I used to with my Canon 10D. I love my E-300!

                Anyway, post up!
Nothing against the E-300, but remember the E-1! It preceded the E-300.

The Olympus E-1 and the E-300 were amazing cameras. Still have the E-300. I could kick myself for selling the E-1. That camera was built like a tank.
