  • First Impressions 12-100.

Well I got it yesterday and as it was nice and sunny today took it for a test run.

Seems to be very sharp at all focal lengths and is very good wide open.

      Re: First Impressions 12-100.

      Hi Andy -

I gave mine some fresh air today, sunny but cold. It was a pity the canal was a little low as someone had not used the right sequence when closing one of the locks. However, I am most pleased with the lens - although over one pound in weight it felt nicely balanced on the EM 1 + battery pack - I use a Q strap (Quick Strap) so it fits nicely across the body. I like the smoothness of the barrel when twisting.

Taken @ 12mm for test uncropped

      A.mode - f5.6 - e.v-0.7 iso 250

Taken @ 100mm for comparison uncropped

      A.mode - f7.1 - e.v-0.7 iso 250

      Cygnet and Duck

      A.mode - f5.6 - e.v-0.7 iso 250

Kingfisher with fish This lens IMHO produced a much cleaner image over the 40-150 + converter when taking the Kingfishers.

      A.mode - f5.6 - e.v-0.3 iso 250

Narrowboat + Lock straight out of the camera

      A.mode - f6.3 - e.v-0.3 -iso 250

Thanks for showing yours and I hope you don't mind me posting mine on your thread.

      Regards. Barr1e

        Re: First Impressions 12-100.

        Thanks for tempting me guys!
I think I will sell my 40-150 f2.8 to finance one of these, I have the 100-400 so it will fit in nicely.
If it works as well as the 12-40 I could then sell that and the 9-18 to finance the 7-14.
Too many options and too much GAS, maybe I should just stick with what I have.

Although it was no brainer to part with my 12-40 I couldn't bring myself to sell the 40-150, it's just to good. Mind you I do have the MC14 to go with it.

I still have my old 4/3 7-14, although it's heavy it's another must keep lens.
