I love trying out new kit, and when told that you are one of the first of the "normal" people to get to use it, then it just makes the whole experience that much better...

As I always do, I look to push the kit to the limits, in a "real world" situation just to see what I can get away with.

    This is with the 40-150 + 1.4 converter at full stretch (210mm - 1/1000s @ f/4.0 & ISO 1250)

This is 100% from about the middle:

I have to admit I often find the antics of people far more interesting than animals. (60mm - 1/125s @ f/5.6 & ISO 320)

But I truly believe this gorgeous creature found us to be a lot less so... (60mm - 1/160 @ f/5.6 & ISO 200)

    The owl treated us with complete indifference (150mm - 1/400 @ f/3.2 & ISO 1250)

But "Frodo" the fox at least made the effort to make eye contact (150mm - 1/1000 @ f/2.8 & ISO 400)

Sincere thanks has to go to the Olympus Team for providing such a great day and yet another brilliant lens.

    Hi Graham -

Thanks for these, they look very good in colour and detail.

What f (aperture) and iso settings did you use please.

Sorry Barrie, I've added the exif data in the post above. It seems that DxO stripped the data as there is not a profile for the lens yet.

These were all taken with the E-P5. Dave Stevenson the wildlife photographer suggested we set the ISO to Auto and go for higher shutter speeds. It was only the squirrels and the weasel that were moving at any kind of speed...

        Hi Graham -

        Thanks.

We had one mounted on the OM-D EM-1 today and although we had heavy rain at that time the results were enough to confirm our order with www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk. Our thanks to them and Olympus for the time given us today.

A very nice piece of kit - similar quality and design to the Olympus 12-40 lens.

I think these will be much sought after IMHO.

        Regards. Barr1e

Looks like it could be a useful lens for people who like to take photos of their pets.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Indeed. It has good close focus capability and with f/2.8 there is no need to venture outside looking for creatures to snap...

Unfortunately we in the Netherlands where only allowed to test the lens in a studio, the results where pretty pleasing

Thanks Barrie, that's a good review. I'd agree with the comment:

                    "Fantastically good, professional image quality"

I'd have preferred to be in the studio, it's more my style. Standing around in the cold and mud is not my thing and while the kit is weatherproof, I'm not.
