That is one nasty looking creature. I have books on insects and it isn't in any of them. At first I thought it belonged to the scorpian fly species but now I think not.

Most insects with pincers usually have them at the back of their body and most are leaf eaters I believe, so this is quite unusual.

The fact that it is not brightly coloured (i.e. red or black and yellow stripes = danger) means it isn't a stinger, though I bet that bite came a bit keen.
