Hi, I've just added the new firmware, 4 minutes in total. I used the new Olympus Digital Camera updater as I don't have Viewer or Master loaded on my new Imac.
It appears people are having different experiences when downloading the new firmware.
Having read your posts, i did connect the camera to the AC-1 adapter (mains lead) for safety though. Thanks for the post and heads up as I would have been worried if it had taken more time.
Just out of curiosity what did this update accomplish? I have had mine about 2 weeks and it seems to work fine. Do I need this?

Olympus has released firmware updates for its E-5 DSLR, E-PL2 Micro Four Thirds camera and XZ-1 enthusiast compact. The latest versions for the E-5 and XZ-1 resolve minor bugs relating to LCD display and external flash units respectively.
Thanks a lot. I have the E5 and XZ1 but haven't used either enough to note these problems. I guess when I see them I will try the updates, though quite frankly they scare me to death as I read about all these people "bricking" their lenses and cameras.
