Hello everyone. I've noticed a pattern in a lot of images uploaded to the gallery. First, I'm jealous that I didn't get that shot. Pay no attention to the fact that I am in Florida in the U.S. and the shot was taken in Morocco. But it's always, "Damn, that great. Why didn't I take that shot?"
Then, it's "Well, if I DID shoot that, I woulda done THIS or THAT to it, THAT woulda made it better". Of course, it's great just the way it is, but each of us have our own take on what makes a picture good. Which brings me to something I think might be great fun.
I'm announcing the Brian Jackson (my real name, by the way) Galactic Award of Photographic Excellence in Post Processing and/or Image Manipulation. Here's how it will work. I will soon post to a downloadable site an image of my choosing, most likely a mediocre image of my own. I have hundreds to choose from, so this might take awhile. Each contestant has permission to do the full monty on it, no holds barred. Crop, color, use of third party filters, addition of other components from other images, you name it. Tame or outrageous, do your worst, I can take it. I will be the exclusive judge of what image tickles my fancy (or any other part) at the end of the allotted time. I will actually send you the Award Plaque if you win, no matter where you are in the Galaxy (Earth, most probably). We're sparing no expense here.
Of course, I may be smitten by this attempt at fun but the rest of you may think I've slid off the edge. That's where you're input is needed. If you think this would be a great diversion from the holidays ( I mean, how many times are we going to do the Christmas thing, seriously) or any other mundane part of your life, or your life is so vibrant and full that you simply couldn't add another thing to it (yeah, right) let me know either way so I can decide to move forward or make another appointment with my therapist.
