Recently we've seen on this forum quite a few great macro shots taken with the sigma 150mm. I am curious how good this lens is when applied to people/portrait photography, especially at f 2.8 for shallow DOF. Any samples? THX
I've just bought one (arrived today). Took a few shots and will get one up soon. Great lens, beautifully made for a non Zuiko. On the four thirds sensor I would think that 300mm equivilent is going to be a bit much for portrait work to be honest. It's going to make people look a bit compressed!

...which makes it perfect for portrait work in my opinion. That undistorted compression can be very flattering, especially on body shots.
Really depends on the subject, I would agree that for some, 300mm equivalent will be great for portraits. I have also shot at 28mm equivalent and gotten great shots. So it all depends on your style, how much room you have, and the subject. There is no reason that 300mm equivalent can't work, too. I am not one for staying withing the bounds of "accepted" portrait lengths.

EDIT: Tried to just post that as a link and it wouldn't let me, but clicking on the top line will take you to some samples (with a d300).
Now that you have that lovely lens, some extra lighting is needed when stopping down to gain as much DoF as possible (in macro use) & an FL50(R) with diffuser works OK mounted in the hotshoe or you can go a bit crazy & use twin flashes etc. like I have. Check it out if you like http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11841 You will also find some night time macro examples that I've done.

I recently bought one for macro, but had the idea to also try it out for street candids. (I tried using a 25mm f/1.4 and a 50mm f/1.4 on an E-P1, and still felt that I had to get too close... the 150mm should be great.)
I wouldn't mind trying it out for standard portraiture, as well. Might go nicely with the 25mm in a dual-wield setup, but I think it would be a bit tight without stepping back a bit...
