New to photography..

Hello to all, I am at present using a SP550UZ but will be upgrading to a E510/E1 around December or an E3 solution if the difference is worth the extra funds.

Regards

Welcome Peter!

Hope you find FTU a friendly and useful resource and place to hang out

I see from your profile you are a F1 fan - we've been having some 'warm' debates about this season over at our other site(DPNow.com) - I'm hoping Honda get their act together in 2008 so Jenson can show his true colours!

Ian

Hi Peter - I have the SP550UZ too, as well as an E-510 now. Both are great cameras in their price range, but you will be astounded by the performance of the E-510 in comparison.

Most notable differences I would say are the AF speed and sensor noise (especially at ISO400 and above). I generally carry both cameras with me now, but use the SP550 mostly for video or for getting a shot in when I don't have time to change lenses on the E-510.

Ian.

Re: New to photography..

Thanks for the reply, this is also my way of thinking. I have been very impressed with the 550 but then that is compared to my last camera an Olympus OM110 35mm AF? .
It was a good few years ago now but I feel overall that a move upwards is needed so as you point out I will probably go for the 510 when I have time to set up and the 550 for snaps. I am hoping to get into flora, fauna and landscapes so this forum is invaluable.

Regards
