Viewing Oly RAW files in Windows Explorer

If you want to be able to view Oly RAW files as thumnails in Windows Explorer here is a link. I havn't tried it yet though.

I've been trying to get this to work off and on for a year or so and failed miserably on XP SP3 with all the latest bells & whistles.

Ian started a thread on it a while ago, and from what I remember, no-one got it to work on XP.

I've checked the various versions I've downloaded from a variety of Oly sites; all have the same digital signature & time stamp (10 March 2009 05:43:45), so I think there's only the one version of the codec in the wild.

orfshell from HERE works with Oly thumbnails when viewing from Internet Explorer, but does not preview when viewed as a filmstrip.
i.e. you can see the thumbnail along the bottom, but get no preview available when you select it.

I have had no luck in Win7 64 bit, although unlike Vista it now recognises them as cameras files (of origin) and uses the appropriate icon.

When I used some Cameras Labs software on Vista (possibly also on SP3) it allowed Raw files to be displayed in preview but not to actually open. Which is ridiculous.

I use Olympus RAW CODEC 1.3.0.0 in W7 64. No problems. If you have problems install it as administrator.

Me too with no problems on XP Vista or 7, Picassa will also open oly raw.

just buy a mac now that they've finally updated their RAW codecs i can view all my RAW files in preview

Sounds handy. Pity I can't use a Mac for myself.
