Re: If you think there will be a new OM-D E-M1 announced next week...

Now that I think of it, rumor has it that Panasonic will make some kind of announcement about the GH-5 as well. Will you be reporting on that as well, Ian?

A date of its release would be pleasing Ian.

I'm hearing that final production samples will be available in November, so it looks set to be on sale before Christmas.

Exclamation Re: If you think there will be a new OM-D E-M1 announced next week...

I saw the presentation on the live stream from Photokina. The E-M1 MkII is an interesting camera! I see Olympus is turning to the Pro photographers who need a lighter equipment. Not so interesting for the enthusiast if you aren't a bird photographer. Not bad for a photographer who needs a long tele to be able to cut the wheight of the equipment to one third and still get enough good quality for publishing. The new lenses are complementing this very well. The emphasis seem to be on speed, brilliant autofocus (cross PDAF-sensors all over the image sensor area) and image quality in a smaller format. They seem to have stopped with a 20 Mp sensor and no handheld pixelshift that I think is less interesting for the Pros they are turning to. Unless it's easy to implement (i don't think it is) it has a limited use so it's wise not to implement it. You can still make a very good 30"x40" print with a 20 Mp sensor and at base ISO! I may preorder even if I'm not a "pro"!

From what I've read so far, the new camera is very impressive. It seems that Olympus listened to a lot of their customer's requests. I'm excited to find out more. And I want one!

As one who mostly shoots bird pictures, I am really happy with what Olympus have created.
