Turn off start-up sound

Good day. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to turn off the star and shut-down tones on an e-m5? I've searched the menus and manual and can only find how to turn off the focus-lock beep (which I have done) but the star and shut-down tones are annoying. Would be very grateful for any assistance.

I see that hyphen "up" produces a thumbs up symbol. Learn something new every day.

Well, this is interesting. Whatever was causing the camera to emit the tones on start up and turn off has ceased. No more tones. I'm baffled, but quietly baffled.

Maybe you had the IS turn on first & now it is off?

Re: Turn off start-up sound

I can't recall ever hearing startup tones on my E-M5. I've read that the IS system can make some odd noises under certain circumstances, but I don't think it would ever be described as a tone. So . . . I have no idea what might have caused the tones.

Re: Turn off start-up sound

Entirely possible the IS was inadvertently turned on, given my fat, clumsy fingers. Thanks guys.

I think you need to intentionally turn it back ON & leave it on, because it is there to help for most of the time.

Re: Turn off start-up sound

I turn IS off when using Panasonic lenses, but experimenting with it doesn't produce the tones I had the other day. Like I said, baffling. But quiet, so I'm happy.

Re: Turn off start-up sound

If you have a setting called "Lens I.S. Priority" (⚙C menu), try turning that on and leave the in-body IS on all the time.

Lens I.S. Priority:
"If [On] is selected, priority is given to the lens function operation when using a lens with an image stabilization function."
