Re: The Weekly Close Up 21/2009

Wow guys, things are looking great.

Sorry I have been so busy lately, I should be getting back to normal soon. (or as normal as it gets. )

I haven't had much time to shoot lately but when I saw this dragon in the yard, I grabbed gear and ran. It's actually the first of the year in the yard. Other than that it has been all damsels.

E 3, 70-300, FL 50r

My family was here last week and wanted to know how I shoot the bugs, so I grabbed a 330, 50mm, EC 1.4, srf-11 for a few shots. All they said was they couldn't believe I don't get stung.

Thanks for looking and thank you for keeping the WCU going even when I am too swamped.

Jim

Re: The Weekly Close Up 21/2009

Here's the biggest house spider I have seen. It frightened the life out of Jen (wife) and Heather (12yr daughter) as they were sat on the sofa having a cuddle, when it crawled up the wall next to them. Haven't seen them move so fast in ages

Re: The Weekly Close Up 21/2009

Spiders get no lovin'!!

Neither do these guys....

(taken with the E-3, 70-300mm, and EC-14 while doing a model shoot. ISO 100.)

*EDIT: Just discovered that all my shots done on the E-3 thus far (including 3 full professional shoots) had IS off, including this one! o_O

Re: The Weekly Close Up 21/2009

Looking great guys.

Summer is coming to a end here, so my very limited supplies of bugs are going to get even slimmer.

E 3, 50 mm, EC 20, SRF-11

Thanks for looking

Jim

Re: The Weekly Close Up 21/2009

Took these at the weekend with my Panasonic G1 14-45 lens, trying to get close with tripod and using timer. The hornet landed just in time, I was screaming and dancing round the garden elated, my partner thought I'd been stung!

Re: The Weekly Close Up 21/2009

Yeah, I like that one, too!

Here's another closer-up of the grasshopper at the national park, this time with the 70-300mm...
