Lightbulb Coming up - FTU's Lens of the Week!

Starting next Monday (2nd July) here on Four Thirds User we're going to start what I hope will be a fun new interactive feature - Lens of the Week.

Each week a selected lens will be featured in an article and this will be supported by your experiences and anecdotes, plus example photos concerning the said optic via a thread on the forum linked back to the article.

We will - as far as possible - alternate between Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds lenses. We will also alternate Micro Four Thirds lenses between Panasonic Lumix/Leica and Olympus m.Zuiko.

To kick things off, next week we'll start with an old favourite, the remarkable Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 (both the original and slightly modified MkII versions), the very first Four Thirds kit zoom lens and still a firm favourite 9 years on.

There is still time to help us to formulate this project, so let me know if you have any ideas and suggestions!

Ian

Re: Coming up - FTU's Lens of the Week!

Just to add, the main article will include technical information about the lens featured and usually there will be test data (distortion, CA, resolution, etc.) rather like a lens review, plus some sample images from me. I will try to compare with other similar lenses where possible too.

Sounds a great idea, Ian. Also nice to start with the 14-54mm, my favourite lens!

As time goes on, and once we have covered all the usual suspects, we could feature Sigma 4/3 lenses and classic or unusual legacy glass.

Yes, I intend to include Sigma lenses, and Voigtlanders, and eventually the new Schneider K.

It looks like I can be part of it with that lens then. Sounds interesting.

Don't forget Samyang. Their new MFT 7.5mm fisheye is sharp and great fun!

OK, it's Lens of the Week for the Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 - I have started a new thread to discuss this great lens here:

Re: Coming up - FTU's Lens of the Week!

Sorry for the day's delay caused by me being out of the country (and being roasted alive by the heat here in Budapest!). The article is now up here:

http://fourthirds-user.com/2012/07/l...54mm_f2835.php

Let's hear your thoughts and see your photos on the thread linked to the article (not here - I will close this thread now).
