I have the Oly 14-150 and for what it is its a great lens, it actually performs very well from 14 to about 70mm and after that the softness and lack of resolution compromises it, especially if you try to take crops.
I was wondering if the the Oly m40-150 or the Lumix 45-175 are much better IQ wise? I imagine they will be an improvement but if it's only marginal then it doesn't seem worth it. Has anyone been able to compare them?
I know the 35-100 is forecast and that focal length and speed would be ideal, but since it's likely to be expensive I'm finding hard to justify spending that kind of money on a lens.
I'm keeping the 14-150 as it's a truly excellent walkabout lens but just want a better lens when I want to take more discerning pics.
I don't know if I am really lucky in having a very well made one, but my M.Zuiko 40-150 always surprises me with the IQ it produces.
What is even better, is that I got it via Amazon very cheap, as it was "allegedly" part of a kit that was returned and they were selling them off in plane white boxes.

Mine's the same.Got it for a very good price from another forum member and even at 150 I'm pleased with the results.
I find it can produce a lot of colour fringes but these are easy to remove at my Raw development stage.
As a walk around I think it's a great lens.
I have to agree with the other forum members: the 40-150 is the best-kept secret of the entire 4/3 universe: if you stop it down to around f8, it is an outstanding performer, with extremely good resolution and contrast. I've used it extensively at 150, and while it is a tad soft wide-open, once you stop it down a tad, it is really hard to beat, especially at the price. :-)
Along with the superb Panny 14-45, another best kept secret. Read What Digital Camera review. They gave it a gold award for the best M4T kit lens with the highest MTF that they had ever tested. The later 14-42 never matched it.
