Leica has chosen the Olympus VF-2 electronic viewfinder as the basis for the official EVF for its new X2 compact camera.

Will the Olympus VF-3 work as well on the Leica X2 body?

In theory, yes.

Re: Leica Likes Olympus EVF

So, only £190 approx. to replace the Olympus logos with Leica branding! Another expensive ego-massage for Leica customers

I must find out how to obtain shares in Leica - it should be the solution to poor savings account interest rates.

Question is - will Leica participate in m4/3? Panasonic already uses their design to make lenses, now they use Oly port and viewfinder. What will be next?

In the near future I think that we'll see a PEN with the sensor of EM-5, so if Leica Likes it...

Well, Leica has been a member of the Four Thirds consortium since at least 2006 and are listed as one of the supporting companies on the current Four-Thirds/Micro-Four-Thirds site.

Their only camera in the formal FT/MFT series was the Digilux 3. Since then they have been confining their work to lenses with Panasonic.

Wasn't Digilux 3 only re-branded Panny L1 with some minor firmware tweaks?

. . . and a red dot on the front.

It is a huge and unfounded leap to think that Leica's purchasing some parts (e.g. an EVF) from Olympus indicates that they will make a 4/3 camera.

Re: Leica Likes Olympus EVF

Leica can build it's own m4/3 camera to improve their income .. I wonder how many people will buy their silly 8k USD monochromatic cam?
The m4/3 is a place to make a lot of money on masses and many companies are aware of that. Those who are not may end like like Kodak did...
I think they will make a rangefinder-styled camera with EVF (like Fuji X-PRO1, but one that works) and set of shiny lenses for m4/3 one day.. my 4/3s crystal ball told me so...
