Re: E-System DSLR firmware upgrades for EC-20 converter

Thanks for the notification.

After first checking for up-dates on my software, then removing viewer and installing the Studio 2.0 Demo, the camera was detected inmediately and the new firmware is installed.

Ready to go again!

Thanks for that Ian, it isn't listed on the Olympus UK site yet, will try updating tonight.

Given that camera manufacturers can be a secretive bunch, I wonder what else it updates/changes ?

Re: E-System DSLR firmware upgrades for EC-20 converter

Nah, I don't think ti changed anything else, at least on m E-500. I updated yesterday (although I will probably not buy the EC-20, at least not yet) and have not seen anything different.
Shame, I wanted to bring the 500 noise levels to at least those of the E-3, make its speed 4 fps, and add LV and IS. But, of course, oly has always been pretty inconsiderate of its customers...

Yeah there all the same, making you buy completely new cameras, when an upgrade would do!

Manufacturers will make other changes say to their default sharpness, saturation levels etc in a firmware update and not mention it, I don't know whether Olympus are the same or not. After all no manfacturer wants to admit that they have got their basic settings wrong!

Re: E-System DSLR firmware upgrades for EC-20 converter

Weeeeel... I just heard on the "other" forum that the E-510 focuses noticeably faster with the update (maybe it installed the E-3 focus system ). I haven't noticed something on me ol' E-500 though.
As for the image settings... I shoot RAW for a long time so I do not remember the pre-update jpegs to compare with the posdate ones.

the E-400 also got the update for the EC20.
it's now at 1.2

nowhere on the website, but if you start up studio/master and do a camera update you'll see the new firmware.

Ah - thanks for that! I'll update the news item.

Ha, that's cool, hope you are a bit happier now with your E-400. Didn't I suggest, just try and see what happens? (http://fourthirds-user.com/forum/sho...93&postcount=4)

The links on dpreview, were I first spotted this, point all to the japanese/global website. The E-400 was only sold in the UK. No reason for the E-400 to be listed there. As far as I can tell, the latest onslaught of Firmware updates didn't make it to the Oly-UK website yet.

It still seems Oly doesn't mind selling EC20 converters to E-400 owners and support them in this.

Slight clarification - the E-400 was only sold in Europe, not just in the UK
