OTOH, while the comments by Lowepro are fine, the original rules remain unchanged. Intentions are wonderful things, but are just what the word means: I hope to, not I will. I still wouldn't enter anything in a contest with those rules.

Well the state so far is, I think "we didn't mean to grab the rights" but they have just done a PR-speak 'rethink' but not actually changed the terms and conditions - so it's still a rights grab according to the written terms ?

Correct, and if they officially change the rules but not specifically retroactive then any entries prior to the change could be held to the old rule.
