Re: Time to move on.

On my I-Touch also, but I usually just zoom it out to make the print larger and easier to read, but only on my I-Touch. But it doesn't bother me the least liitle bit and sometimes I even click on a link. After all, SOMEBODY has to pay for our FREE use.

And let me add to the chorus "wishing you well but not looking forward to you leaving".

I understand the site needs ads, and I don't mind top banners and ads on the right-hand side, but on a small screen left side ads are a pain. Scrolling down the page - the left column is just a white space. On the desk pc, with a wide screen it doesn't matter.

For comparison - take a look at the BBC site, they also use ads, but in a much less oppressive way.

- or even "tighter" CBC design (no margin on the left):

Will still 'lurk'.
Ian this is what I said after two posts in this thread. The issue is not of your making. I respect what you have created here but for me it's time to move.

Nevertheless, if you aren't satisfied enough with what we do here I do need to ensure that we remain competitive - so if our competition are doing things better I need to react. Unless you are completely unrepresentative (which I doubt) then I need to take this seriously.

No, really, that left ad column eats up a lot of screen space on my netbook.
Unfortunately, we do need to show ads - and we're not earning megabucks in the process; you'd be surprised how little ads actually contribute, but we need every penny. But if we can show ads in a more comfortable manner, of course I would want to do that, so your comment is interesting.

It's one thing to lose people to another system but quite another to lose them to another forum. Any suggestions on how to improve or be more competitive will be welcome from anyone.
