Yes, the G1 highlights were lighter, but I feel the mid-tones were about the same as the others?

what about the histogram for each overall? is it shifted to the right for the G1 compare to the E3?

since E3 have more high light detail but less shadow, G1 have more shadow but less high lights

that or can be the camera tone curve/contrast to account for the Exposure diff?

I'll be in the office tomorrow - so I will have a look then.

Re: Initial look at Lumix DMC-G1 high ISO performance

Using the downloaded JPEGs and ACR 5.1 the histograms are remarkably alike, and well concentrated to the left side. All seem to show some clipping. I'm no pro and can't diagnose well from histograms so I'll say no more about them. I can, if Ian doesn't mind, upload them. It also seems obvious that some things in the foreground and background have blown highlights. Just a visual observation not based on any hard data.

Re: Initial look at Lumix DMC-G1 high ISO performance

DIWA just posted some graphs/charts

http://www.diwa-labs.com/wip4/compar...&product2=6414

not sure if they are doing JPEG or RAW or what, but not looking good for the new 12mp sensor, as least the version in the G1,

vs the E3

seem noisier overall as it is implemented on the G1 which confirm what Ian's pix already show

maybe a slight gain in DR up to ISO800, then lost in DR on ISO 1600 and 3200
