Sorry about the incorrect exif data - we are looking in to this. The data on the files is correct, it's just their extraction and display on the page that is incorrect.

Update: - the exif data has been corrected manually. Hopefully our automatic script for extracting the data will be fixed soon.

    Hi Ian,
I downloaded two shots to push around. Both looked good and much better when saturation was cut back. On Pen00046 (the carriage) there is quite a bit of green fringing on the right side. This I would take as a lens problem or software correction for that lens.
Playing with some sharpening strategies shows a lot of detail lurking in the file.

Remember that Olympus doesn't do chromatic aberration corrections in the camera like Panasonic does. They suggest that the lens should be designed to minimise this!

I was able to briefly try a pre-production sample of the new 45mm f/1.8 and it looks like a superb performer even wide open - and it's tiny! I hope to post some shots but I need the images vetted by Olympys as a pre-production lens was used. It was also shot on a pre-production E-PL3 (Lite).

    Hi Ian,
I had forgotten Oly's position on software corrections. Since the EXIF info seems snarled, I can't tell what lens/focal length was involved. With zooms the CA may only be found on the wide end, so I have been guessing this was the 14-42 @ 14.
Yes, the mFT lens inventory is getting very interesting. I'd like to see a sample from the 45/1.8. I was very impress by the wide viewing angle demonstrated in the lead picture in your article (Image 15, too). That is about 4X what I get on my pocket P&S. That can really make using the rear screen and looking over the camera easier and more people friendly.
This looks like a fun one.

The one with the carriage was taken with the 12mm @f/5.6.

So I found out, Ian, and said OOPPPs.....I remembered an old EXIF reader that I had and thought I'd check again.....12mm @ f/4.9709.
While what I have read about the 12mm would imply that this sort of aberration should be well corrected, the unit that you had may have been knocked out of centering alignment. The CA seems to be more on the right side, hinting at a centering issue. It is something to ask Oly about.
This is certainly a unique lens....ultra wide/ultra fast....and hopefully ultra corrected.......at least until they come out with that 7.5mm f/0.95...

Hi Bob, I have taken some more sample shots with the 12mm this afternoon as we have some good sunshine here today inbetween rain showers!

I am seeing some faint purple fringing and this is fixed by the chromatic aberration red/cyan corrector in Lightroom - you only need a modest -15 ticks to fix it. Not seeing any green fringeing. The lens I have is a different one that used in Vienna.

    I'm uploading them now.
