    The Weekly Close Up 1/2011

Well spring is here. Time to revive the WCU for the coming year.

If you wish, please post your close ups if they be macros or not, The theme is not limited.

Also please let us know what you used to get the shot and if you are cropping.

A few of mine with the E 5, 50mm, EC 20 and ringflash.

Thanks for looking and here's to a great year.

Thank you Andy and thank you for participating. Very nice color and detail.

I really envy you having critters to shoot already. I have seen 3 bugs so far and they were gone in a instant.

    Thanks for sharing

    Hi Jim -

I have plenty of opportunity to shoot down low at the moment, unfortunately I can't hold the camera whilst on my knees. The praying seems to be helping though.

Great to see the thread up and running again.

I'm hopeful I will be allowed to cheat a little today - one from the past.

As the back is improving, albeit slowly - i'll endeavour to grace the screen later in the week with a recent image.

    Regards. Barr1e

I have to agree with Steve, I love the color and how it floats in the air.

Thanks for sharing and you can cheat anytime. Just get your back better.

Re: The Weekly Close Up 1/2011

Thanks for starting this thread again, Jim, great idea!

Here's one I took on Saturday, of larch buds in my garden. Later, these buds will turn to cones. E-3, Sigma 105mm, full height image but a little cropped off the sides. I'm not entirely happy with this picture and wonder if it may have been better in more subdued light but it's got me off the ground in this thread. May reshoot if we get a dull day with no breeze before the buds turn.

Thank you John. I'm glad you enjoy the thread as I do. It's always a bit of fun and we get some very interesting images.

I've never thought of how the cones were formed but now looking at your shot, I can see it. Does the bud get bigger or just dry like that?

    Thanks for sharing.

Close up enough? More than lifesize. (2-3x) E3 70-300 crop to 80% resize to 1200x1600
