    FTU Day One!

You don't know what a relief it is for me, personally, to see FTU up and running at last. It's been a long and hard slog to get to this stage, but it's only the beginning and the site is only now really going to develop, thanks to you, our visitors.

One of the best things you can do if you really value the future of this site is to register on the forum. This will give you the ability to post on the forum and show your photos on the integrated gallery.

By registering, you will also be entered in to a prize draw at the end of next month for a chance to win a fabulous Olympus E-510.

If you have anything to say or suggest about the new site, please tell us via our Feedback form; we value your considered opinion. With anything new, there are likely to be some bugs or oversights that need fixing - if you spot anything odd, let us know so we can apply fixes as soon as possible.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on the new site Ian, it seems to have been a long time in the planning and development, but now its here and it looks just great.

As you know I'm not a FTU myself, but being a nosy and inquisitive sort, I'll be looking in from time to time

    Morning Stephen

(Stephen is chief moderator on the DPNow forum and pro Canon user)

It's been a slog and I'm sure there are still some rough edges to be discovered and smoothed out

Much of the server apps that power FTU are re-engineered from DPNow and the work done here will eventually be used to update DPNow.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement!

Hi Chris - welcome to FTU; I notice you're from Manila, Philippines. I'm half Philippino - on my mother's side

Hello Ian, pleased to know we have a common affinity. I'm not FTU yet but seriously considering FT because of its purely digital orientation, and my C350D is getting long in the tooth (good gear though).

I'm seriously considering the Olympus E-510 but Manila shops offer only the E-400 and E-500 models which do not overwhelm me. We have the impressive E-330 here but it's getting old now.

Will be frequenting FTU website for info.

The Canon EOS-350D has a very good sensor, but the new-generation E-410 and E-510 are just as good now. It's easy to forget that the E-510 in particular is still very new, so I'm sure you won't have to wait too long before it finds its way into stores in Manila.

Or you could buy a Pentax? Some of these are made in the Philippines...
