    E-1 on the way!

After years of sitting on the fence, I found an E-1 w/HDL-2 at a price I couldn't resist. A bit old in terms of its technology but I'm always floored by the images it produces (shares the old Kodak CCD like the E-500 no?).
I understand it's near indestructable and will provide an all-weather option in place of my E-30. I'd like to pair it with a used 14-54 MK1 (also weather sealed right?) if anyone has one they would like to get rid of, PM me.

There's no doubt the E1 does produce great images, I use mine as a back up for the E3 and wouldn't be without it.
    Enjoy

As far as I'm concerned there are no other cameras. My 2.

The E-1 has a 5MP FFT CCD Kodak sensor, the E-300 and E-500 had 8MP versions of the same Kodak sensor technology. The last Kodak sensor E-System camera was the E-400, but this was a not an FFT CCD sensor type.

PS Yes all 14-54s are weather sealed.

    Re: E-1 on the way!

E-1 just arrived!! Have to say I'm extrememly pleased with Cameta Auctions speed of processing and shipping. I purchased late Thursday night and it arrived Monday afternoon (standard USPS shipping!) I was surprised to find a "used" camera in such perfect condition. I honestly can't tell it's not brand new from the box! Perfect in every way and only $300 USD including grip/battery/charger and everything from the original box.

So being curious about the perfect condition of a used camera I checked the menu based on the instructions from biofos.com

If I'm reading this correctly there have only been 803 shutter releases!? Someone please confirm this.

If this is accurate, this E-1 hasn't even been broken in yet! I'm super excited. Here's some more pics and comparisons to the E-30 if you're interested to see how they compare in size.

    Re: E-1 on the way!

Its the very reason I chose the E-30 rather than the E-3, it nearly the same size and weight as my E-1 and handles much the same. I still use the E-1 and took it out only yesterday, Im sure you will be very pleased with it.

And yes that is correct for the shutter releases, unless of course it has had the shutter replaced by Oly in which case it would have been reset, but thats highly unlikley.
    Regards Paul.

cool camera! I have had thoughts once or twice on picking one up, but I think the L-1 makes a fine backup body. I am sure you are going to have some fun with that guy, looking forward to seeing some shots from it!

    Re: E-1 on the way!

Flippin' eck! I've just bought an old E-1 and was amazed at the DR of the thing at ISO 100. The amount of shadow detail (and virtually noise free) is staggering. I took some simple indoor shots in RAW - looked very dark against a bright window, took it into LR and boosted the 'fill light' to maximum - the darkness is illuminated with very little noise.

I got mine on eBay for 120 with 11000 shutter actuations, no instructions, battery or strap (but I have spares of these for my E-3 anyway - they're the same!). Mega bargain!

The 5MP Kodak sensor is a true wonder!

Yep, I've been saying "5MP never looked so good"! It's a great time to pick up an E-1. They're dirt cheap right now and at ISO 100-400 it holds its own against all the newer models.

You should try and find a used vertical grip to go with it! The pair fit together better than expected.
