    More changes to the forum

As part of a long term plan to re-invent Four Thirds User, the forum will be updated to vBulletin 5 in the next few days.

Please accept my apologies for any disruption.

We need to bring our server up to the latest software and security standards and the best way to do this is to update both our content management and discussion forum software.

I will post more information on the work and the changes that will be made in due course.

Of course, your feedback is always appreciated.

Re: More changes to the forum

I have to make a crazy dash to the Philippines tomorrow (Sunday) for the funeral of my much-loved aunt on Tuesday and will be back on Wednesday night, so I will start the work on the new forum after that

Not forgetting the problems you had with the last Salon Contest which subsequently killed it.

Very true Ross. I think the handful of regular members who still frequent the forum will all feel the same way. Lets hope it's an improvement on last year's updates at the very least.

The forum now seems to be visited more by numerous zero posting members using it as a Private Messaging facility than genuine members so maybe the updates will incorporate some means to prevent this. I understand DP Now has the same problem. Hopefully Ian will be successful in generating a revival and attracting new active genuine members to the forum. We can only hope

    John

It's been over 3 weeks now since the announcement of site changes "in the next few days". Without any desire or intent on my part to sow controversy, would an update on progress be possible ? I'm sure there will be other former active members who visit without logging in that are also awaiting these site changes and looking forward to them.

    Regards,

    John
