I recently got an Olympus OMD EM-10 Mark I with the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14‑42mm 1:3.5-5.6 EZ Pancake lens. That's a pancake lens that automatically extends and retracts. (On the lens, I had an automatic lens cap.)
So I was zooming in to take a picture when something came up and I had to turn off my camera immediately. Ever since, when I turn on my camera, the lens extends and retracts a few times (without me doing anything) and then I get a black screen with the error message "Please check the status of a lens".
It seems that by zooming and quickly turning the camera off I somehow interfered with the lens. So now I can't use my camera, as the lens doesn't work. I have tried using a friend's lens and that worked fine, so it really must be a lens problem. I don't have a warranty on the lens and sending it in would cost 99.
Can I fix this? How? Or is it really just broken?
