    Re: 221st FTU Salon: Age

I used to recommend 600 wide images when we first started

Then it was 800 or 900 and then 1000. 1200x800 seems very generous to me,

I am having trouble understanding why huge images that don't fit the space are desirable, but I also need to listen.

I agree with the idea of seeing the whole image at once and often don't scroll around if the image is bigger. I also dislike text that runs on way past the end of the window and won't often read the hidden part (however that happens)...

800X600 is easy on the eye and I imagine takes up less data for viewing. I have no objections to falling into line with 800x600 as a max

Yes, I think I have to make a policy decision and that is I am sticking to 1200x800 for the site gallery. There is nothing to stop anyone from posting a super large image if they want to, but it will have to be linked from an external site.

I will look at the idea of cloning images as suggested.

Apologies for my absence, I was in hospital and incapacitated. Congratulations to John for winning! What is the name of the book?
    Best wishes

It's called Another Way of Telling - A Possible Theory of Photography, by John Berger and Jean Mohr. The book was originally published in 1982 but this is a revised edition. It was actually published last year (I thought it was this year). It's packed with a wide variety of black and white photographs.
