Question no serial # on 90-250 in focus adjust

Today I attempted to do the focus adjustments on the 90-250 that I purchased (used 9+condition) a month ago from B&H photo. On all my other lenses the serial #s show correctly but on this lens it just comes up 0000000s. With the EC14 attached (as a lens group) it does show the EC14s serial #, but again no # for the 90-250 itself.
Is this due to the fact that it might be a reconditioned lens sold as used?
It appears to work fine, and I was able to update the firmware tonight with no hiccups...
should I worry about it not indicating the serial #?

    Gidday David

    Seems strange to me.

I'd shoot off an email to B&H to put it on the record/query it.

Perhaps an email to Olympus asking them about it as well?

    Yeah funny!
There is actually a physical serial # on the lens barrel, it just doesn't register on the focus adjust screen which leads me to believe it has been reworked as a refurbished lens since it is in remarkably clean condition _not a scratch on the mount. I will call B&H and find out.

sounds like they messed with the lens firmware
and didnt realise the serial number went in the process
I guess they gotta fix it

Yep, I have the senior tech at OLY USA HQ looking into it, and he thinks the same as we do about not re-entering the # when or if it was refurbed. I was able to update the firmware to V1.2 last night with no glitch. (wipes sweat off brow...)

nice to know people in high palces at Oly USA
