Consideing the built in EVF this is a very reasonable price.

I have now added five shots (numbers 25 through 29) comparing the GX7 to an OMD-EM5 to the hands-on preview photo gallery here:

    What do you all think?

Re: Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 hands-on preview

    Thank you Ian!

I think it's fair to compare the GX7 with the OM-D (and not the E-P5) as both have inbuilt viewfinders. GX7 and the OM-D is about the same size and weight. OM-D has better IBIS and is watershielded. It has more options with handgrips and battery compartments. It has an accessory port. The OM-D is also probably better for 'left-eye-viewers' (like me). The GX7 has better manual focussing and better video with 25p (but can't use external microphone).

    Regards,

    Per

The GX7 appears to be enticingly smaller than the E-M5. I wonder how long before Olympus introduce a direct competitor?

Mmmmm... the E-M5 'feels' smaller in use. Of course for some that is not necessarily positive for the E-M5!

Personally I prefer the lines and styling of the E-M5, I've really grown to like the handling and ergonomics of this camera (sans grip..I prefer it with no grip) and the GX-7 "looks" like it may not completely gel with my ergonomic preferences, although until I've held one one it's impossible to say.

Re: Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 hands-on preview

After holding the GX7 in my hands I can hardly wait until mine arrives. Except for the grip and the EVF eyepiece it is not that much larger than the GF1. It weighs more than the GF1, but not excessively more. I think it will be a great companion to my GH3. I am very happy with the way the u4/3 system is headed. Thanks to Olympus, Panasonic and the other companies involved for all the great cameras and lenses.

You know it's going to happen. The u4/3 system just keeps getting better.
