Apologies for this site's DNS service access interruption

Because of an unfortunate mix-up over the change of our site's DNS (Domain Name System) service provider, DNS was temporarily and unexpectedly lost for about 3 hours this evening.

I'm pleased to say that we're back up and running although some DNS servers around the world may take longer to be updated with the new name server IP addresses we are now using.

Sorry for the interruption of service!

Re: Apologies for this site's DNS service access interruption

I tried to reply over at the E-system user group and couldn't. People are trying to clear cache to get here. They might have to flush their DNS.

in a command prompt ipconfig /flushdns will do it.

OpenDNS still doesn't have it (which is what I use) but I used another site to find the correct IP and set up a hosts file entry on my computer to get here. Your provider doesn't allow you to access the site via the IP address.

BTW, I could definitely do a better job managing your DNS.

Sounds like this is your business - or related!

To be honest, we're photography people, not IT people, but we do a reasonable job and at a good price. Unfortunately we occasionally get caught out, like last night!

Yeah, it is. I was tier 2 support for a software company, supporting their content management system (web site building software).

Actually, fingers crossed, I might be moving across the pond to your neck of the woods. I applied for a job in our London office, going out and installing it for people on their servers, and setting up their networks.

Good luck with that - and if you do end up this side of the pond, let's be certain to meet up!

Everything seems back to normal for me now.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.
