Question Newbie: Strange Message After Formatting Card

I bought a used GF1 in place of a point and shoot. I plan to use it for trips, because I am sick and tired of lugging a DSLR, and I haven't found a P&S I like (besides that they don't shoot RAW).

The seller sent a 16gb card. Two out of three times I formatted it, the camera asked me to reinsert the card. This seems strange. Could the card be corrupt? Is 16gb too big a card for this camera?

It takes great images - sharp, great contrast, etc. Also got one message after one reformat that said check lens attachment to camera. Only did that once.

    Any help appreciated.

Sounds like a faulty card. Have you tried accessing it using a PC and running error checking tools on it?

16GB is certainly not too big.

Never thought about doing that. Embarrassed to admit it, but I am not sure how one runs a test on the card on the computer (Mac)?

Ha! Can't help you there either - it's easy on Windows

    Try here:
    https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/
They have both flavors not sure if it will help. Also check for other tools. What is the brand of the card they may have a tool.

Wink Re: Newbie: Strange Message After Formatting Card

It was just that card. Other cards I have put in there work fine. I did check the card on the computer, totally refreshed it, but it still failed. 16gb card in trash is a good outcome.
