The lens does not ship with a hood, and the illustration of the optional hood shows that it is very shallow. Like all hoods for super-wide zooms it is bound to be inefficient.

An adapter is not required for using a Micro Four Thirds lens on a M4/3 body. You will need an adapter if you want to use a Four Thirds lens (such as the Zuiko 35mm f3.5 macro) on your Lumix G3.

All M4/3 lenses will fit on the Lumix G3. Those from Olympus do not have image stabilization, since that is a feature provided in the Olympus camera bodies. But image stabilization is not necessary...
