    Re: Phase detect AF support.

Thanks Ian, yes some time ago I bought a S/H Canon 1Ds so I could use my collection of film era Canon lenses (I have a Canon EOS3 and 1n so I can still shoot film) but it is certainly a handful...

    Re: Phase detect AF support.

I was just wondering, when did Oly cease manufacturing the FT lenses? I see it is still possible to buy them brand new.

    Re: Phase detect AF support.

Thanks for the reply Ian. That is indeed reassuring, especially when one considers the cost of the 90-250mm f2.8 or the 300mm f2.8!

    Cheers,

    Phase detect AF support.

Has Olympus made any statements about how long they will continue support for users of Four Thirds lenses with future MFT bodies? I was a little dismayed to see that current support is limited to the...
  5. Sticky: Re: Lens of the Week - the Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5

I too have the 14-54 Mk.1 and it lives permanently on my E3. I love it, it has produced many of my favourite images. A great lens.

    Re: E-M5 and 4/3 lenses

    Hi Ian,
I only hope that Olympus will continue to consider us FT users by continuing to provide a phase-detector option for us. I was disappointed to see that the OMD 5 does not have phase...

Re: Olympus unveils OM-D E-M5 Mark II

I totally agree re the lack of PDAF for us users of older 4/3 lenses. There is no way I am about to mortgage the house to buy new glass. Olympus owes us anyway for abandoning their original 4/3...

Nice shots Paul - I particularly like the first and the last image with their contrast of complementary colours. The 70-300 seems to have done a good job too. I also have that lens and like it but...

HELP! Re: Mould in 50-200 SWD

I too have lived in Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong and Darwin, Australia. A dehumidifying 'dry box' is the best solution to fungus in lenses. The good news is that in my experience at least it can be...

Re: Olympus launches the PEN E-P3

Thanks Ian. That doesn't look ridiculous at all. I have the 50mm 1.8 OM lens so I can easily relate to the image. This does seem to be the future for digital photography. I do think the optional EVF...

Re: Olympus launches the PEN E-P3

Is the PEN E-P3 the rumoured 'Pro-Pen'? What does it look like with a Four Thirds lens attached? I imagine it to be rather unwieldy in that configuration, rather a 'lens with camera attached'. Would...

    HELP! Re: Infinity Focus Question

May I refer you to Andrzej Wrotniak at http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/43/index.html He discusses at length using legacy lenses on FT cameras, including flange distances and infinity focusing. It seems...

    Re: 8mm fish eye lens

No it is not an Olympus lens. I'm 99% certain it is a Samyang lens, which is a new Korean manufacturer. BUT, if I am correct don't let that put you off. After much research I have just bought one...

    Re: E-300 owners unite!...

I still have my E-300 (with HLD2 grip) and love using it. In fact I lost my digital virginity over it as it was my first digital camera! I have since graduated to an E-1, E-500, E-510 and now an...

    Re: Which Lens??

1 would say definitely yes to that question. Consider the greater zoom range of the 12-60. I have the venerable 14-54 but am still seeking a 12-60 as well for that reason.

Re: Who will buy the E5?

I've just bought an E-620 so that blows my budget for now. Much as I'd like the E-5 I think a used E-3 is more suited to my budget. I expect the price of the E-3 to tumble now! That said I would love...
  20. Re: Larger Four Thirds system sensor in a mirrorless camera?

I have an E-1 and love it. I just wish I could upgrade it to a 12mp. sensor. I take your point about Oly not having the resources to mix it with the big guys but nevertheless it's amazing what a good...
  21. Re: Larger Four Thirds system sensor in a mirrorless camera?

For the sake us who have invested so much in the E series I hope you're not right on this Stephen! I think I have a survival solution for Oly which is to make their next pro model upgradeable. I have...

Re: Who will buy the E5?

If Oly would start with the basic E-1 body, add a 2.7" high res fold out LCD and IS, + say a 15mp sensor, and give us two CF card slots writable to each other that would be enough to make me a very...
