iF product design awards go to the revolutionary OM-D E-M1 flagship and cult collector’s favourite, the PEN E-P5

Olympus press release:

March 3 2014 – Olympus camera design continued to take home the industry’s most prestigious prizes at the 2014 iF product design awards, where the jury honoured two Olympus interchangeable lens cameras.

The OM-D E-M1
The classic, super-robust design of the E-M1 reflects its status as the flagship camera of the whole Olympus range. The E-M1 not only sets a new image quality benchmark, but it is also more compact than its bulkier DSLR rivals. Its world-first 5-axis image stabilisation system combines with one of the world’s fastest AF systems and a new Live MOS sensor to deliver the best images in the history of Olympus cameras. What’s more, this Micro Four Thirds masterpiece is compatible with an ever-growing range of high-grade, interchangeable lenses. You can read why the iF jury selected the OM-D E-M1 for an award here:

The PEN E-P5

The iconic looks that won over this year’s iF awards jury make the E-P5 an instant collector’s item. An homage to the classic PEN F, the top-of-the-range PEN is a beautifully crafted camera. The technology inside its all-metal casing is just as impressive as the head-turning retro design. The 1/8000th second shutter speed is a world first for the Micro Four Thirds camera class while FAST AF, a 16-Megapixel Live MOS sensor and built-in WiFi emulate its OM-D counterpart above. Of course, like the OM-D the PEN is also compatible with Olympus’ wide range of interchangeable lenses and accessories. For more on what the jury thought of the PEN E-P5 please click here:
