v.1.5 firmware incorporates updates in the abortive 1.2 release plus additional features
Olympus has finally resumed its firmware update service for the OM-D E-M5 after the July release of v.1.2 in July was aborted in response to reports of owners experiencing problems with their cameras after installing that update. We now jump to v.1.5 which incorporates the improvements in v.1.2 plus some new features.
v.1.2 included automatic zoom settings for use in underwater mode when using the m.Zuiko 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 standard zoom. Sleep recovery was also improved and and when shooting in C-AF+TR continuous shooting and continuous AF tracking mode the AF target position is highlighted in the frame.
v.1.5 adds the ability to use legacy lenses in image stabilised mode when shooting video - assuming you have entered the lens' focal length into the legacy lens IS system. Some operational sounds are now less loud than before.
Please note that you may need to update your version of Olympus Viewer 2 before you can update your OM-D E-M5. The Olympus Digital Camera Updater program needs to be at least v.1.03 for Windows or v.1.04 for Apple Macs.
